* A/C manifold gauge set
* A/C refrigerant (R-134a)
* A/C compressor oil
* A/C recharge hose
* Safety glasses
* Gloves
Instructions:
1. Park your Jetta in a shady spot and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood and locate the A/C compressor. It is usually located on the front of the engine, near the radiator.
3. Connect the A/C manifold gauge set to the A/C compressor. The red hose goes to the high-pressure port, the blue hose goes to the low-pressure port, and the yellow hose goes to the refrigerant tank.
4. Open the refrigerant tank and start the engine.
5. Watch the pressure readings on the manifold gauge set. The high-pressure reading should be between 250 and 350 psi, and the low-pressure reading should be between 25 and 40 psi.
6. If the high-pressure reading is too high, turn off the engine and let the pressure bleed off. If the low-pressure reading is too low, add refrigerant to the system.
7. Continue adding refrigerant until the high-pressure reading is between 250 and 350 psi and the low-pressure reading is between 25 and 40 psi.
8. Turn off the engine and disconnect the manifold gauge set.
9. Close the refrigerant tank and replace the cap.
Your Jetta's A/C should now be charged and working properly.
Note: If you are not comfortable charging the AC system yourself, you can take your Jetta to a qualified mechanic to have it done for you.
