- Park your car on level ground and turn off the engine.
- Allow the engine to cool down completely to avoid any risk of burns.
- Locate the coolant expansion tank. It is usually translucent and has markings indicating the maximum and minimum levels.
- Unscrew the cap of the coolant expansion tank cautiously, as there may be residual pressure.
- Check the coolant level in the tank. If it is below the minimum mark, you need to add antifreeze.
- Mix the antifreeze with water according to the manufacturer's instructions. The recommended mixture ratio is typically 50% antifreeze and 50% water.
- Pour the antifreeze mixture slowly into the coolant expansion tank.
- Replace the cap of the coolant expansion tank and secure it tightly.
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to allow the coolant to circulate.
- Recheck the coolant level in the expansion tank and make sure it is between the maximum and minimum marks.
