1. Check your mirrors and blind spots. Make sure there is no oncoming traffic or other vehicles in your blind spots that could be affected by your maneuver.
2. Signal your intention to pass. Turn on your left turn signal to alert other drivers of your intention to pass.
3. Accelerate gradually and smoothly. Increase your speed gradually so that you can safely pass the other vehicle.
4. Stay in the passing lane only as long as necessary. Once you have passed the other vehicle, move back into the right lane as soon as it is safe to do so.
