Before starting any work, ensure you have the right safety gear, including safety glasses and gloves. Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shock.
Step 2: Remove the Serpentine Belt
- Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt and use a long wrench to release the tension on the serpentine belt.
- Remove the belt by pulling it off all the pulleys.
Step 3: Disconnect the Alternator
- Disconnect the electrical connections from the alternator.
- Remove the positive (+) terminal nut and the negative (-) terminal nut.
Step 4: Remove the Alternator Bolts
- Locate and remove the two bolts holding the alternator in place.
- Set aside the bolts.
Step 5: Remove the Alternator
- Carefully maneuver the alternator out of the engine compartment.
- Be careful not to drop it.
Step 6: Install the New Alternator
- Position the new alternator in place.
- Secure it with the bolts removed earlier.
Step 7: Connect the Alternator
- Reconnect the electrical connections you removed earlier.
- Tighten the positive (+) and negative (-) terminal nuts.
Step 8: Install the Serpentine Belt
- Reverse the steps you took in Step 2 to install the serpentine belt.
- Make sure the belt is tensioned properly.
Step 9: Test the Alternator
- Start the engine and check the battery voltage.
- It should be between 13 and 14.5 volts.
Step 10: Reinstall the Battery
- Reconnect the battery and test the system to ensure everything is working properly.

- It's recommended to replace the serpentine belt whenever replacing an alternator.
