How does one change the transmission fluid in a 1989 Nissan Sentra standard 4 speed front wheel drive?

Tools and Materials Required:

- New transmission fluid (check your owner's manual for the recommended type and amount)

- Oil drain pan

- Funnel

- Wrench

- Rags

Instructions:

1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Locate the transmission fluid drain plug. It is usually located on the bottom of the transmission pan.

3. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug.

4. Loosen the drain plug and allow the old transmission fluid to drain into the pan.

5. Once all of the old fluid has drained out, replace the drain plug.

6. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug. It is usually located on the top of the transmission pan.

7. Remove the fill plug.

8. Insert the funnel into the fill plug hole.

9. Add the new transmission fluid. Be careful not to overfill the transmission. The fluid level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the transmission dipstick.

10. Replace the fill plug.

11. Start the car and let it run for a few minutes. Then, shift through all of the gears. This will help to circulate the new fluid throughout the transmission.

12. Check the transmission fluid level again and add more fluid if necessary.
