Tools and Materials Needed:
- New hood release cable
- 10mm socket wrench
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Pliers
Instructions:
1. Open the hood of your Cutlass.
2. Locate the hood release cable. It is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment, near the firewall.
3. Use the 10mm socket wrench to loosen the two bolts that hold the hood release cable bracket to the firewall.
4. Once the bolts are loose, use the flat-head screwdriver to pry the hood release cable bracket off of the firewall.
5. Disconnect the hood release cable from the bracket by pressing down on the release tab and pulling the cable out of the bracket.
6. Remove the old hood release cable from the vehicle.
7. Route the new hood release cable through the firewall and connect it to the bracket.
8. Replace the hood release cable bracket and tighten the bolts.
9. Test the hood release cable to make sure that it is working properly.
Tips:
- If you have difficulty removing the old hood release cable, you may need to use a pair of pliers to grip the cable and pull it out of the bracket.
- Be careful not to drop the bolts that hold the hood release cable bracket to the firewall.
