1. Find a suitable parking space: Look for a spot that is at least 1.5 times longer than your car. It should also be free of obstacles like hydrants, trees, and other parked vehicles.
2. Signal and position the car: Turn on your right turn signal and slowly drive up alongside the car in front of the empty space. When your front bumper is even with their rear bumper, stop.
3. Shift into reverse and release the clutch: Press the clutch pedal all the way down and shift into reverse. Slowly release the clutch pedal until you feel the car start to move backward.
4. Turn the steering wheel to the right: As the car is backing up, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. This will help you make a sharp turn into the parking spot.
5. Control the speed with the clutch: As you turn, use the clutch to control the speed of the car. If the car is moving too fast, press the clutch pedal down further to slow it down. If it's moving too slowly, release the clutch pedal a bit to speed it up.
6. Check your mirrors and blind spots: As you're reversing, keep an eye on your mirrors and blind spots to make sure you don't hit anything.
7. Straighten the wheel and shift into neutral: Once you're completely in the parking spot, straighten the steering wheel and shift into neutral. Release the clutch pedal all the way and apply the parking brake.
8. Turn off the engine and get out of the car: Turn off the engine, put the car in park, and get out of the car.
