2. Remove the distributor cap. To remove the distributor cap, simply pull it straight up off of the distributor.
3. Clean the points. Use a piece of emery cloth to clean the points. Be careful not to touch the points with your fingers, as this can contaminate them.
4. Set the point gap. The point gap is the distance between the two points. The correct point gap for a 350 Chevy is .016 inches. To set the point gap, use a feeler gauge. Insert the feeler gauge between the points and adjust the gap until the feeler gauge can just slide through.
5. Reinstall the distributor cap. Once the point gap is set, reinstall the distributor cap. Be sure to push it down firmly until it snaps into place.
Note: If you are not comfortable setting the points on your 350 Chevy yourself, you can take it to a mechanic to have it done.
