1. Locate the radiator cap on the radiator. It is usually located on the top of the radiator and is marked with a "RADIATOR CAP" label or a radiator symbol.
2. Check that the engine is cool. If not, allow it to cool down to a safe temperature to avoid burns.
3. Place a rag or cloth around the radiator cap to protect your hands from hot coolant.
4. Turn the radiator cap counterclockwise until it is loose. Be careful not to drop the cap into the radiator.
5. Lift the radiator cap off the radiator.
6. Check the condition of the radiator cap and replace it if necessary.
