Carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless gas that is produced when fuels are burned. It is most commonly associated with vehicle exhaust fumes, but it can also be produced by generators, stoves, and other fuel-burning appliances.
Carbon monoxide is poisonous because it binds to haemoglobin in the blood, preventing oxygen from being transported to the body's tissues. This can lead to a variety of symptoms, including:
* Headache
* Dizziness
* Nausea
* Vomiting
* Fatigue
* Confusion
* Loss of consciousness
In severe cases, carbon monoxide poisoning can be fatal.
If you experience any of the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, you should move to a well-ventilated area and seek medical attention immediately.
