1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent the fan from accidentally turning on while you're working on it.
2. Remove the glove compartment. There are four Phillips head screws that hold the glove compartment in place - two on the top and two on the bottom. Once the screws are removed, you can pull the glove compartment straight out.
3. Locate the blower motor resistor. It's located behind the glove compartment, on the passenger side of the vehicle. It's a black plastic box with a few wires connected to it.
4. Disconnect the wires from the blower motor resistor. There are three wires connected to the resistor - a red wire, a black wire, and a yellow wire. Use a flathead screwdriver to release the tabs on the wire connectors and then pull the connectors off of the resistor.
5. Remove the mounting screws for the resistor. There are two screws that hold the resistor in place. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws.
6. Pull the resistor out of the housing. Once the screws are removed, you can pull the resistor straight out of the housing.
7. Replace the resistor with a new one. Insert the new resistor into the housing and secure it with the two mounting screws.
8. Reconnect the wires to the resistor. Connect the red wire to the red terminal, the black wire to the black terminal, and the yellow wire to the yellow terminal.
9. Reinstall the glove compartment. Slide the glove compartment back into place and secure it with the four Phillips head screws.
10. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
