1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Open the hood and locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually located near the back of the engine, on the driver's side.
4. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
5. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid tube until it is fully seated.
6. Pull out the dipstick again and check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
7. If the fluid level is low, add enough transmission fluid to bring it up to the "FULL" mark. Use only the type of transmission fluid that is recommended by the manufacturer.
8. Reinsert the dipstick and check the fluid level again to make sure it is correct.
9. Close the hood and start the engine.
