1. Park your Avalanche in a safe, well-lit area and turn off the engine. Allow the headlights to cool down if they have been on.
2. Open the hood of your Avalanche.
3. Locate the headlight assembly you wish to replace.
4. There is a removable cover on the back of the headlight assembly; unclip this cover and set it aside.
5. Grip and disconnect the electrical connector located on the back of the bulb you’re replacing. This will disable power to the bulb, making it safe to handle and remove.
6. Turn the bulb socket (or retaining ring) counterclockwise and remove it from the assembly.
7. Remove the old bulb from the socket.
8. Insert the new bulb into the socket, making sure it is properly seated.
9. Replace the bulb socket (or retaining ring) and turn it clockwise until it is secure.
10. Reconnect the electrical connector to the bulb.
11. Replace the removable cover on the back of the headlight assembly and snap it into place.
12. Close the hood of your Avalanche and start the engine.
13. Test the new headlight to ensure it is working properly.
This process is the same for both the left and right headlights on a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche.
