1. Park the truck on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Raise the front of the truck with the jack and support it on jack stands.
3. Remove the cotter pin from the steering linkage arm.
4. Loosen the jam nut on the steering linkage arm.
5. Turn the adjusting nut until the steering wheel play is eliminated.
6. Tighten the jam nut.
7. Replace the cotter pin.
8. Lower the truck from the jack stands.
9. Test drive the truck to ensure the steering is operating properly.
Here are some additional tips for adjusting the steering box:
* If the steering wheel is loose, turn the adjusting nut clockwise.
* If the steering wheel is stiff, turn the adjusting nut counterclockwise.
* Be sure to tighten the jam nut securely after making any adjustments.
