Where are the spark plugs located in a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire and how do you change them?

Spark Plug Locations:

1. 1-3 Cylinder Spark Plugs: They are located in the front end of the engine.

2. 4-6 Cylinder Spark Plugs: They are located on the back of the engine.

To get clear access, you may need to remove the upper or lower intake manifold cover.

Tools and Materials Required:

1. 5/8-inch spark plug socket wrench

2. Spark plug gap gauge

3. New spark plugs

4. Ratchet

5. Extension bars

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the battery's negative terminal. This will prevent any electrical shocks while you're working.

2. Remove the plastic engine cover.

3. Locate the spark plug wires. They're usually black and have rubber boots on the end.

4. Remove the spark plug wires by grasping the boot and pulling it straight up.

5. Use a spark plug socket wrench to loosen and remove the old spark plugs.

6. Check the gap on the new spark plugs. The gap should be between 0.038 and 0.043 inches.

7. Install the new spark plugs by hand until they're snug.

8. Use the spark plug socket wrench to tighten the spark plugs.

9. Reattach the spark plug wires.

10. Replace the plastic engine cover.
