- New Fog Lamp Bulb (H3 type)
- Rag
- Gloves
Procedure:
1. Turn Off and Prepare: Turn off the vehicle and allow the engine to cool down. Engage the parking brake, and ensure the Corvette is in a level position.
2. Locate Fog Lamp Area: The fog lamps are located on the lower front fascia, near the outer edges.
3. Remove Front Splash Shield: There may be a plastic splash shield beneath the bumper that covers the access hole for the fog lamp assembly. If there is, use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws or fasteners that hold the shield in place.
Gently pull down the splash shield to create a gap for access. Some shields might be easier to remove completely.
4. Locate Access Hole: Look for a rubber or plastic cover on the rear side of the fog lamp housing. This cover provides access to the bulb.
5. Remove the Cover: Gently pry open the cover of the fog lamp housing. It might be a twist-lock or snap-fit type.
6. Remove the Fog Lamp Bulb: Once the housing is accessible, grasp the old fog lamp bulb and gently twist counterclockwise to loosen and remove it. Alternatively, some fog lamp bulbs may have a wire lock that needs to be released before twisting the bulb out.
7. Inspect and Clean: Inspect the socket area for any dirt, corrosion, or damage. If necessary, clean the socket with a clean, dry rag to ensure good electrical contact.
8. Install New Bulb: Align the new H3 fog lamp bulb with the socket and gently twist it clockwise until it locks in place. Make sure the bulb is seated firmly.
9. Replace the Cover: Replace the rubber or plastic cover of the fog lamp housing, making sure it's securely fastened.
10. Reinstall Splash Shield (Optional): If you removed a front splash shield, reattach it by tightening the screws or fasteners you removed earlier.
11. Test: Switch on the headlights and fog lamps to ensure the new bulb works properly.
Note: If the newly installed fog lamp bulb does not illuminate, check whether it is inserted correctly, make sure the electrical contacts are clean, or have a professional inspect for any deeper electrical issues.
