Was John W Hetrick the inventor of airbags for cars?

John W Hetrick was one of the inventors of the airbag for cars, but he was not the sole inventor. The first patent for an airbag was filed in 1952 by Walter Linderer, and several other inventors contributed to the development of the airbag before it became a standard feature in cars.
