1. Listen for the fuel pump. When you turn the key to the "ON" position, you should hear a whirring sound coming from the fuel tank. This is the sound of the fuel pump priming the system. If you don't hear this sound, the fuel pump may be faulty.
2. Check the fuel pressure. You can use a fuel pressure gauge to check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. The fuel pressure should be between 55 and 62 psi. If the fuel pressure is too low, the fuel pump may be faulty.
3. Remove the fuel cap. There is a small cap on the fuel line that can be removed. If you remove this cap and fuel does not come out, the fuel pump may be faulty.
4. Check the fuel filter. The fuel filter is located in the fuel line. If the fuel filter is clogged, it can restrict the flow of fuel to the engine and cause the fuel pump to fail.
