How do you change heater core in 96 Pontiac Bonneville?

1. Disconnect the battery.

- This will prevent any electrical shocks from occurring while you are working on the heater core.

- To disconnect the battery, simply use a wrench to loosen the negative battery terminal nut and remove the cable from the battery.

2. Drain the coolant.

- Next, you will need to drain the coolant from the engine to prevent it from spilling into the car.

- To do this, locate the drain valve on the radiator (usually at the bottom of the radiator) and open it.

- Allow the coolant to drain completely.

3. Remove the dashboard.

- The next step is to remove the dashboard to gain access to the heater core.

- The specific steps for removing the dashboard will vary depending on your particular vehicle, but generally speaking, you will need to remove the steering wheel, the center console, and any other trim pieces that are in the way.

- Once the dashboard is removed, you should be able to see the heater core.

4. Remove the heater core.

- To remove the heater core, you will need to first disconnect the heater core hoses.

- To do this, simply use a pair of pliers to squeeze the hose clamps and pull the hoses off of the heater core.

- Once the hoses are disconnected, you can remove the heater core by unbolting it from the firewall.

- Be careful not to spill any of the remaining coolant.

5. Install the new heater core.

- To install the new heater core, simply reverse the steps that you took to remove the old heater core.

- Make sure to tighten the bolts that hold the heater core in place securely.

6. Refill the coolant.

- Finally, you will need to refill the coolant that you drained from the engine.

- To do this, simply add the coolant to the expansion tank until the level reaches the "Full" mark.

7. Test the heater.

- Once you have refilled the coolant, you can start the engine and turn on the heater to make sure that it is working properly.
