- This is important to do any time you are working on electrical components.
2. Drain the coolant from the engine.
- Remove the drain plug from the bottom of the radiator and allow the coolant to drain into a catch pan.
3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
- This will give you more room to work.
4. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
- Use a wrench to loosen the hose clamps and then carefully remove the hoses.
5. Remove the mounting bolts for the heater core.
- There are usually two bolts on each side of the heater core.
6. Remove the heater core from the vehicle.
- Be careful not to drop the heater core.
7. Install the new heater core.
- Position the new heater core in the vehicle and then install the mounting bolts.
8. Reconnect the heater hoses to the heater core.
- Use new hose clamps to secure the hoses.
9. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
10. Refill the coolant system.
- Add coolant to the radiator until it is full.
11. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- This will circulate the coolant through the system and check for leaks.
12. If there are no leaks, reconnect the negative battery cable.
13. Test the heater.
- Turn the heater on and make sure that it is blowing hot air.
