Midas told you that the transmission fluid dipstick on your 2006 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo was missing but dealer tells Chrysler uses a plug instead. how is checked then?

According to the factory service manual, the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo does not have a transmission fluid dipstick. Instead, the transmission fluid level is checked through a fill plug on the side of the transmission.

- Park your Jeep on a level surface and let it run for a few minutes to warm up the transmission fluid.

- Turn off the engine and pop the hood.

- Locate the transmission fill plug on the side of the transmission. It will be a 17mm hex head plug.

- Clean the area around the fill plug to prevent dirt from entering the transmission.

- Remove the fill plug and check the fluid level. The fluid should be at the bottom of the fill hole.

- If the fluid is low, add fluid until it reaches the bottom of the fill hole.

- Replace the fill plug and tighten it securely.
