2. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually marked with a red or orange handle and is located near the back of the engine compartment, on the driver's side.
3. Pull the dipstick out of the transmission and wipe it clean with a rag.
4. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission until it is fully seated.
5. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
6. If the fluid level is low, add enough transmission fluid to bring it up to the "Full" mark.
7. Reinsert the dipstick and close the hood of your vehicle.
