Toyota Corolla shift out of park?

Step 2: Press and hold the brake pedal.

Step 3: Move the gearshift into the "N" (neutral) position.

Step 4: Release the brake pedal.

Step 5: Start the engine.

Step 6: Press and hold the brake pedal again.

Step 7: Move the gearshift into the desired gear (D for drive, R for reverse, etc.)

Step 8: Release the brake pedal and accelerate as desired.
