- Park your car on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
- Disconnect the battery cables, starting with the negative terminal.
- Remove the air filter and intake duct.
- Drain the coolant from the radiator.
- Remove the timing belt cover.
- Disconnect the fuel lines and hoses.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the engine.
- Remove the exhaust manifold.
Step 2: Remove the transmission
- Remove the transmission mount.
- Disconnect the driveshaft from the transmission.
- Remove the transmission bolts and nuts.
- Carefully lower the transmission from the car.
Step 3: Remove the engine
- Remove the engine mount bolts.
- Disconnect the steering rack from the engine.
- Remove the oil filter.
- Disconnect the water pump from the engine.
- Remove the power steering pump from the engine.
- Disconnect the air conditioning compressor from the engine.
- Remove the starter motor.
- Remove the engine bolts and nuts.
- Carefully lift the engine from the car.
Step 4: Clean and inspect the engine
- Once the engine is out of the car, you can clean and inspect it for any damage.
- Look for any signs of wear, tear, or leaks.
- Replace any damaged or worn parts.
Step 5: Reinstall the engine
- To reinstall the engine, simply reverse the steps that you took to remove it.
- Make sure that all of the bolts and nuts are tightened securely.
Step 6: Reconnect the battery cables
- Once the engine is reinstalled, you can reconnect the battery cables.
- Start the car and check for any leaks or problems.
