• The thermostat is located on the front of the engine, right-hand side as you face the vehicle, at the top of the lower radiator hose.

• The thermostat is a wax-type thermostat.

• The thermostat opens at 188°F (86.7°C) and is fully open at 200°F (93.3°C).

• The thermostat housing is made of plastic and is bolted to the engine block.

• The thermostat is held in place by a thermostat gasket and a thermostat housing gasket.

Special Tools

• No special tools are required to replace the thermostat.

Replacement

1. Allow the engine to cool down.

2. Remove the negative battery cable.

3. Remove the upper radiator hose.

4. Remove the thermostat housing bolts.

5. Lift the thermostat housing off the engine block.

6. Remove the thermostat gasket and the thermostat housing gasket.

7. Clean the thermostat housing surface and the engine block surface.

8. Install the new thermostat gasket and the new thermostat housing gasket.

9. Install the thermostat in the thermostat housing.

10. Install the thermostat housing on the engine block.

11. Install the thermostat housing bolts.

12. Tighten the thermostat housing bolts to 18 ft-lbs.

13. Install the upper radiator hose.

14. Add coolant to the cooling system.

15. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

16. Start the engine and let it run until it reaches operating temperature.

17. Check for leaks.
