Tools Needed:
1. Socket set
2. Open-ended wrenches
3. Wire snips
4. Pliers
5. Cable tie or zip tie
Procedure:
1. Park your Mazda 6 in a safe location, apply the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the shifter cable. The shifter cable is usually located under the center console. You may need to remove some trim pieces or panels to access it.

6. Tighten any bolts or nuts that you loosened during the removal process.
7. Reattach the trim pieces or panels that were removed.
8. Test the new shifter cable to make sure it is working properly. The shifter should move smoothly into gear.
