How do you install the water pump on a 1994 Honda accord ex?

* Pliers

* Screwdriver

* 3/8 inch drive ratchet and socket

* 5/8 inch drive socket

* 10 m socket

* 12 mm socket

Parts

* New water pump

* New water pump gasket

* Coolant

* Distilled water

* Anti-seize

1. Drain the coolant. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator and let the coolant drain into a drain pan. Leave the lower hose disconnected.

2. Remove the fan shroud. There are four bolts that hold the fan shroud in place. Remove the bolts and lift off the fan shroud.

3. Remove the serpentine belt. Use a 10mm socket to loosen the idler pulley bolt and remove the belt.

4. Remove the water pump pulley. Use a 12 mm socket to loosen the water pump pulley bolts and remove the pulley.

5. Remove the water pump. There are four bolts that hold the water pump in place. Use a 3/8 inch drive ratchet and socket to remove the bolts and lift off the pump.

6. Clean the water pump surface. Use a wire brush to clean the water pump surface where the gasket will go.

7. Apply anti-seize to the gasket. Apply anti-seize to both sides of the gasket to prevent it from sticking.

8. Install the new gasket. Place the new gasket in place on the water pump surface.

9. Install the new water pump. Place the new water pump in place and reinstall the bolts. Tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern.

10. Install the water pump pulley. Place the water pump pulley in place and reinstall the bolts. Tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern.

11. Install the fan shroud. Place the fan shroud in place and reinstall the bolts.

12. Install the serpentine belt. Place the serpentine belt around the pulleys and tighten the idler pulley bolt.

13. Fill the radiator with coolant. Mix 50% coolant and 50% distilled water. Pour the mixture into the radiator until the radiator is full.

14. Start the engine and check for leaks. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks around the water pump.
