The battery or alternator may be dying, causing a loss of power. Check the battery terminals for corrosion and the alternator for damage or loose connections. If the battery is dead, jump-start the car and drive to a mechanic to prevent it from dying while driving again.
Fuel Issues
Fuel-related issues, such as a clogged fuel filter or injector problems. A clogged fuel filter or dirty fuel injectors will cause the engine to run lean and die. Inspect these parts and replace them if necessary.
Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve Issues
The IAC valve is responsible for regulating idle speed by controlling the airflow into the engine. If the IAC valve is faulty, the engine will run rough or die while idling. Clean the IAC valve and adjust the idle speed if necessary.
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Issues
The TPS tells the electronic control module (ECM) how far the throttle is open. A faulty TPS can cause the ECM to deliver too much or too little fuel, causing the engine to run rich or lean and die. Test the TPS and replace it if necessary.
Cam Position Sensor (CPS) Issues
The CPS tells the ECM the position of the camshaft and crankshaft. A faulty CPS can cause the engine to lose power and die while driving. Inspect the CPS and replace it if necessary.
