Where is the dipstick for 2000 Nissan frontier manual transmission?

The 2000 Nissan Frontier manual transmission does not have a dipstick. Instead, the transmission fluid level is checked through the fill plug on the side of the transmission. To check the fluid level, the vehicle must be level and the transmission must be in neutral. The fill plug is located on the passenger side of the transmission, near the top. It is a 17mm bolt. To check the fluid level, remove the fill plug and insert your finger into the hole. The fluid should be at the bottom of the hole. If it is not, add fluid until it is. Be careful not to overfill the transmission.
