There are four oxygen sensors in a 2004 Toyota Camry V6. Two of the sensors are located in the exhaust manifold, and the other two are located in the exhaust pipe.
Exhaust Manifold Sensors
The exhaust manifold oxygen sensors are located on the front and rear of the engine. The front sensor is located on the driver's side of the engine, and the rear sensor is located on the passenger's side of the engine.
Exhaust Pipe Sensors
The exhaust pipe oxygen sensors are located downstream of the catalytic converters. The front sensor is located near the front of the catalytic converter, and the rear sensor is located near the rear of the catalytic converter.
Oxygen Sensor Replacement
The oxygen sensors should be replaced every 90,000 miles or so. If you notice a decrease in fuel economy or an increase in emissions, it may be time to replace the oxygen sensors.
Here are the steps involved in replacing the oxygen sensors:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Locate the oxygen sensors.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the oxygen sensors.
5. Use a wrench to loosen and remove the oxygen sensors.
6. Install the new oxygen sensors.
7. Tighten the oxygen sensors until they are snug.
8. Reconnect the electrical connectors to the oxygen sensors.
9. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
10. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Note: The exhaust manifold oxygen sensors may be difficult to access. You may need to use a special wrench or tool to remove these sensors.
