Locate the hood release lever inside the car. It is usually located on the driver's side footwell, near the door sill.
Pull the hood release lever to release the hood latch.
Go to the front of the car and lift the hood.
Use a screwdriver or other pry bar to release the secondary hood latch. It is located on the front edge of the hood, near the center.
Lift the hood fully open and prop it up with the hood prop rod.
Once the hood is open, you can repair or replace the broken hood release cable.
