How do you change the power steering belt on a 1994 Nissan Sentra?

Tools

- 10mm wrench

- 14mm wrench

- Long-handled flathead screwdriver or pry bar

- Replacement power steering belt

Instructions:

1. Open the hood of the car and let the engine cool.

2. Remove the accessory belt. Remove the accessory belts from the harmonic balancer first. You can use a long-handled flathead screwdriver to loosen the belts.

3. Loosen the power steering pump pulley bolt. Use a 14mm wrench to loosen the bolt until the pump is movable.

4. Move the pump away from the engine. There are two bolts on the top and one bolt on the bottom that you have to loosen. Take them off, and then gently move the power steering pump away from the engine.

5. Slip the new belt around the pulleys. Make sure that it goes around the crankshaft, power steering pump, and water pump.

6. Reattach the power steering pump. Before you do that, insert the three mounting bolts in the holes first, then move the power steering pump to its original place and tighten the bolts.

7. Reattach the accessory belt and you are done! If you don’t have a tensioner, tighten the belt up until the midway point between the two pulleys is a little shy of half an inch when squeezed.
