- Raise the front of the vehicle with a car jack and place it on jack stands. Ensure that the vehicle is properly secured before starting work.
-Disconnect the negative terminal of your car battery to prevent any electrical accidents.
-Locate the power steering pump. It is usually situated on the front of the engine, between the engine block and the radiator.
-Remove the serpentine belt that runs around the power steering pump. This can usually be done by loosening the tensioner pulley and slipping the belt off.
-Disconnect the fluid hoses from the power steering pump. There will be two hoses: one high-pressure hose and one low-pressure hose. Make sure to catch any fluid that leaks out during this step.
-Unbolt the power steering pump from the mounting brackets. There will be two or more bolts holding the pump in place.
-Remove the power steering pump from the engine compartment. Be careful not to damage the power steering lines or other components during removal.
Once you have removed the power steering pump, you can install the new one in the reverse order of these steps. Be sure to refill the power steering reservoir with new fluid and check for any leaks before starting the vehicle.
