1. Park your car on a level surface and put the parking brake on.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Open the hood.
4. Locate the oil filter housing. It is a cylindrical-shaped container located on the passenger side of the engine, near the top.
5. Place an oil drain pan under the oil filter housing.
6. Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
7. Discard the old oil filter.
8. Remove the rubber gasket from the old oil filter housing.
9. Apply a thin coat of fresh oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
10. Screw on the new oil filter until it is hand-tight.
11. Tighten the oil filter an additional 2/3 of a turn using an oil filter wrench.
12. Remove the oil drain pan.
13. Refill the engine with the recommended amount of oil.
14. Check the oil level using the dipstick.
15. Close the hood.
