1. Park the car in a safe location. Make sure the car is parked on level ground and that the parking brake is engaged.
2. Turn off the engine. Make sure all accessories are turned off as well, including the headlights, radio, and air conditioner.
3. Open the hood of the car. The hood release is located inside the car, on the driver's side footwell.
4. Locate the battery. The battery is located in the engine compartment, near the front of the car. It is a black plastic box with two metal terminals.
5. Connect the positive (red) terminal of the battery charger to the positive (red) terminal of the battery. Make sure the connection is tight.
6. Connect the negative (black) terminal of the battery charger to the negative (black) terminal of the battery. Again, make sure the connection is tight.
7. Plug the battery charger into an electrical outlet.
8. Turn on the battery charger. Set the charger to the correct voltage and amperage for your battery.
9. Allow the battery to charge. The charging time will vary depending on the size of the battery and the charger. A typical car battery will take 4-8 hours to charge completely.
10. Once the battery is charged, disconnect the charger. Start by disconnecting the negative (black) terminal, then the positive (red) terminal.
11. Close the hood of the car.
Your 2005 DeVille battery should be sufficiently charged!
