How do you remove the rear seat in a 1998 Mercedes E320 order replace battery?

To remove the battery in a 1998 Mercedes E320, you must first remove the rear seat. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do so:

1. Lift Off seat cover

Gently lift the lower bottom seat. It is held in place with a locking pin to the frame. Then lift up and off the complete bottom rear seat cushion.

2. Remove the Headrest

Push down on the release button or lever found on the headrest support posts. While pushing down, lift up on the headrest and pull upwards until the headrest is freed from the seat. Do this for both the driver and passenger side headrest located at the back of the seat.

3. Fold the Seat Back Down

Once the headrest is removed you will see a large plastic lever with a yellow or red release button. While pushing the release button pull up and back on the large plastic releases levers. This will unlock the seat back and allow it to fold down flat. Fold down both the driver and passenger seat back.

4. Unscrew the Torx Screws

There will be three Torx screws located below the seat track of the rear seat. Once the Torx screws are removed, carefully lift the rear seat upward and outward to extract the seat from the car.

5. Remove rear seat and access the battery

Gently fold down the rear seat.

* Note that the passenger-side seat back may be obstructed by the center armrest.

To remove the center armrest,

1. Slide the lock knob backward.

2. Lift up on the armrest and pivot it toward the rear of the vehicle to remove it from the car.

With the rear seat removed, you can now access the battery in the trunk.
