The fuel filter for a 2001 Chevy Silverado full-size pickup is located under the driver's seat, inside the frame rail. To access it, you will need to:
1. Chock the wheels and apply the parking brake.
2. Turn the ignition to the "OFF" position.
3. Locate the driver's seat belt and remove the bolt holding it to the floor.
4. Slide the seat forward until it stops.
5. Look under the seat and locate the fuel filter.
6. Use a fuel line disconnect tool or a flat-head screwdriver to disconnect the fuel lines from the filter.
7. Be prepared for a small amount of fuel to spill out.
8. Remove the fuel filter from the frame rail.
9. Reverse steps 1-8 to install a new filter.
