1. Ensure that the vehicle's gearshift is in the "Park" position and that the parking brake is engaged.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "Off" position and remove it from the ignition.
3. Open the driver's door and leave it open.
4. Locate the vehicle's battery, which is typically in the engine compartment.
5. Disconnect the negative battery terminal by using a wrench or battery terminal remover. NOTE: Be careful not to touch the positive battery terminal or any other exposed metal parts to avoid an electrical shock.
6. Leave the negative battery terminal disconnected for at least 30 seconds to allow the vehicle's computer to reset.
7. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
8. Close the driver's door.
9. Turn the ignition key to the "On" position without starting the engine. This will allow the vehicle's computer to complete its reset process.
10. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to allow the computer to fully stabilize.
Please note that resetting the computer may result in the loss of some personalized settings such as radio station presets, clock time, and trip computer data.
