1. Park the car in a safe location and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood of the car.
3. Locate the positive battery terminal, which is usually marked with a red (+) symbol.
4. Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the nut on the positive battery terminal.
5. Remove the positive battery cable from the battery terminal by sliding it off.
6. Set the positive battery cable aside.
7. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the negative battery terminal, which is usually marked with a black (-) symbol.
8. Take the new battery cables you acquired and slide one end of the positive battery cable onto the positive battery terminal.
9. Secure the positive battery cable by tightening the 10mm nut with a wrench.
10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 with the negative battery cable.
11. Check to make sure that the battery cables are securely fastened and that there is no exposed metal.
12. Close the hood, and start the engine of the car.
