- Piezo siren with wires/connections
- Crimping tool or soldering iron
- Electrical tape
- Cable ties
- Screwdriver
- Drill or hole saw (if necessary)
- Voltage meter
- First, examine the piezo siren and identify its wires/connections. It may have two or three wires: a positive wire, a negative wire, and sometimes a 'trigger wire' (depending on the siren).
- Locate the wires of your car's existing alarm system. This may involve consulting the vehicle's wiring diagram if available.
- Identify the positive (usually RED), negative (usually BLACK), and any dedicated siren wires (if applicable).
- Connect one of the siren's positive wire(s) to your alarm system's positive wire. If your siren only has one positive wire, connect it to the dedicated siren positive wire if available. If not, connect it to the main positive wire.
- Connect the siren's negative wire to your alarm system's negative wire.
- If your siren has a trigger wire, connect it to the siren-designated wire from the alarm system. If there is no siren trigger wire, this wire may be left unconnected.
- Use electrical tape to secure all wire connections to prevent short-circuits.
- Select an appropriate location in the engine compartment for mounting the piezo siren. It should be audible but protected from direct water and debris.
- Drill or punch holes for mounting screws if necessary, and secure the siren using the provided hardware or cable ties.
- Temporarily disconnect your car's battery or use an inline fuse to protect the circuit.
- Turn on the car alarm system and trigger the siren. The piezo siren should produce a loud, piercing sound.
- If the siren is not functioning properly, check the wiring connections and verify that all connections are secure.
- Once you confirm the siren is working correctly, disconnect the battery again or remove the inline fuse if used.
- Restore all the connections and reinstall any covers or panels removed during the installation.
- Reconnect the car's battery and test the car alarm system, including the siren, to ensure everything is functioning as expected.
- Adjust the siren's volume and tone (if applicable) according to your preference.
Remember to follow the specific instructions and safety guidelines provided by the manufacturer of the car alarm system and piezo siren. If you're not comfortable working with electrical components, consider seeking professional help to ensure proper installation.
