1. Open the hood:
- Locate the hood release lever. It is usually near the driver's left knee.
- Pull the lever and lift the hood.
- If the hood has a hood prop, use it to keep the hood open.
2. Locate the battery:
- The battery is usually located in the engine compartment, near the front of the car.
- It is a black rectangular box with two terminals, one positive and one negative.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal:
- Use a 10 mm socket to loosen the negative battery cable clamp.
- Lift the clamp off the terminal.
- Be careful not to touch the positive terminal with the wrench.
4. Disconnect the positive battery terminal:
- Use the 10 mm socket to loosen the positive battery cable clamp.
- Lift the clamp off the terminal.
- Be careful not to touch the negative terminal with the wrench.
5. Remove the old battery:
- Grasp the battery terminals and lift it out of the engine compartment.
- Be careful not to drop the battery.
6. Clean the battery terminals (optional):
- Use a battery terminal brush to clean the terminals.
- This will remove any corrosion that may have built up.
7. Install the new battery:
- Place the new battery in the engine compartment.
- Make sure the terminals are facing the correct way.
- Lower the battery into place.
8. Reconnect the positive battery terminal:
- Attach the positive battery cable clamp to the positive battery terminal.
- Tighten the clamp with a 10 mm socket.
9. Reconnect the negative battery terminal:
- Attach the negative battery cable clamp to the negative battery terminal.
- Tighten the clamp with a 10 mm socket.
10. Close the hood:
- Lower the hood and let it go.
- The hood should latch automatically.
Test the electrical components:
- Start the engine and check that all the electrical components are working properly.
