1. Gather the tools and parts you need.
* 10 spark plugs (part # Motorcraft SP-515)
* Spark plug socket (3/8-inch drive)
* Ratchet
* Extension bar
* Torque wrench
* Gapping tool
* Screwdriver
* Safety glasses
2. Prepare the engine.
* Allow the engine to cool down completely.
* Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal.
3. Remove the spark plug wires.
* Use a screwdriver to pry the spark plug wire connectors off of the spark plugs.
* Be careful not to damage the spark plug wires.
4. Remove the spark plugs.
* Use the spark plug socket to remove the spark plugs from the engine.
5. Gap the new spark plugs.
* Use the gapping tool to set the gap of the new spark plugs to the correct specification (0.054 inches).
6. Install the new spark plugs.
* Screw the new spark plugs into the engine by hand until they are finger-tight.
* Use the ratchet and extension bar to tighten the spark plugs until they are snug.
* Do not over-tighten the spark plugs.
7. Reinstall the spark plug wires.
* Push the spark plug wire connectors back onto the spark plugs.
* Make sure that the connectors are fully seated.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
* Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery terminal.
9. Start the engine and check for leaks.
* Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
* Check for any leaks around the spark plug gaskets.
* If you see any leaks, tighten the spark plugs until the leaks stop.
