Step 2: Open the hood of your car.
Step 3: Locate the battery.
The battery is usually located in the engine compartment on the driver's side of the car. It is a black plastic box with two metal terminals.
Step 4: Disconnect the negative terminal.
Use a wrench to loosen the nut that holds the negative terminal cable to the battery. Be careful not to touch the positive terminal with the wrench.
Step 5: Disconnect the positive terminal.
Use a wrench to loosen the nut that holds the positive terminal cable to the battery. Be careful not to touch the negative terminal with the wrench.
Step 6: Remove the old battery.
Lift the battery out of the engine compartment. Be careful not to drop the battery.
Step 7: Install the new battery.
Place the new battery in the engine compartment. Make sure that the positive terminal is facing the positive terminal on the car and that the negative terminal is facing the negative terminal on the car.
Step 8: Reconnect the positive terminal.
Use a wrench to tighten the nut that holds the positive terminal cable to the battery. Be careful not to touch the negative terminal with the wrench.
Step 9: Reconnect the negative terminal.
Use a wrench to tighten the nut that holds the negative terminal cable to the battery. Be careful not to touch the positive terminal with the wrench.
Step 10: Close the hood of your car.
Step 11: Start your car and check the battery.
The battery should now be charged and your car should start. If your car does not start, check the connections between the battery and the car.
