Type of battery in a car?

A car battery is typically a lead-acid battery. Lead-acid batteries are the most common type of battery used in cars, as they are relatively inexpensive and can provide the high currents needed to start an engine. Lead-acid batteries consist of a series of lead plates immersed in a solution of sulfuric acid. When a current is applied to the battery, the lead plates react with the sulfuric acid to produce lead sulfate and water. This reaction generates an electric current, which can be used to start the car's engine. When the engine is running, the alternator recharges the battery by reversing the chemical reaction and converting the lead sulfate back into lead and sulfuric acid.
