1. Remove the front lower screws on the left and right sides of the fairing.
2. Remove the upper screws on the left side of the fairing, pull the edge of the fairing away from the radiator, and detach it from the bottom rubber mount.
3. Gently separate the left side of the fairing from the main structure of the bike by rocking the fairing toward the front and carefully pulling upward on the left bottom corner of the fairing.
4. Remove the four retaining bolts that hold the radiator unit to the frame, and then raise the radiator assembly up approximately 3 in. (8 cm) to get access to the battery.
For models without a central fairing:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove the negative cable from the battery to avoid causing sparks that could result in an explosion or fire.
2. Slide the battery out from the left side using a tool.
