3. Put on your gloves to protect your hands from battery acid.
4. Connect one end of the red (positive) jumper cable to the positive terminal (+) of the good battery.
5. Connect the other end of the red (positive) jumper cable to the positive terminal (+) of the Buick Riviera.
6. Connect one end of the black (negative) jumper cable to the negative terminal (-) of the good battery.
7. Connect the other end of the black (negative) jumper cable to an unpainted metal surface on the Buick Riviera, such as the engine block.
8. Start the good vehicle and let it run for a few minutes.
9. Try to start the Buick Riviera.
10. If the Buick Riviera starts, let it run for a few minutes before disconnecting the jumper cables.
11. Once the Buick Riviera is running, disconnect the jumper cables in the reverse order that you connected them.
Note: If the Buick Riviera does not start after you have connected the jumper cables, there may be a problem with the battery, starter, or other electrical system component. You should have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic.
