Please note: Some Envoy owners have reported successfully using Dexron VI instead of Dexron III. However, it's always advisable to follow the manufacturer's recommendation, which is Dexron III.
Here's how you can check and add power steering fluid to your Envoy:
1. Park your vehicle on level ground and turn off the engine.
Allow it to cool down if it had been running.
2. Pop the hood and locate the power steering fluid reservoir.
It's usually a translucent plastic container marked "Power Steering Fluid" or "PS Fluid."
3. Check the fluid level.
The reservoir should have markings to indicate the proper level. If the fluid is low, you need to add some.
4. Add power steering fluid.
Use a funnel to add Dexron III ATF (or Dexron VI if you prefer). Be careful not to overfill the reservoir.
5. Close the hood and start the engine.
Turn the steering wheel from left to right a few times to circulate the fluid.
6. Monitor the fluid level over the next few days.
Make sure it stays at the proper level.
