What controls the torque converter clutch in a powerglide transmission?

The torque converter clutch in a Powerglide transmission is controlled by hydraulic pressure. When the transmission is in Drive, fluid pressure from the pump builds up and applies force to the clutch piston, which compresses the clutch plates and engages the clutch. When the transmission is shifted into Park or Neutral, the fluid pressure is released and the clutch disengages.
