1. Open the hood of your car.
2. Locate the battery, which is usually in the engine compartment on the passenger side of the car.
3. Disconnect the negative (black) cable from the battery by loosening the bolt or nut that holds it in place.
4. Disconnect the positive (red) cable from the battery by loosening the bolt or nut that holds it in place.
5. Remove the hold-down bracket that secures the battery in place.
6. Lift the battery out of the car.
When reinstalling the battery, make sure to connect the positive cable first and then the negative cable.
