Instructions:
1. Turn off the engine and let it cool down completely. This is important to avoid getting burned by hot coolant.
2. Locate the thermostat housing. On the 1994 Buick Century, the thermostat housing is located on the front of the engine, just below the upper radiator hose.
3. Drain the coolant from the radiator. Place a drain pan under the radiator, then open the radiator drain plug. Allow all of the coolant to drain out.
4. Remove the thermostat housing bolts. There are two bolts that hold the thermostat housing in place. Remove these bolts with a screwdriver or pliers.
5. Remove the thermostat housing and thermostat. The thermostat is located inside the thermostat housing. Carefully remove the thermostat and gasket, taking care not to damage the gasket surface.
6. Install the new thermostat. Place the new thermostat in the thermostat housing, aligning the gasket surface with the gasket surface of the housing. Insert the thermostat bolts and tighten them securely but not too tightly.
7. Install the new thermostat gasket. Place the new thermostat gasket on the thermostat housing, aligning the holes with the bolt holes.
8. Reinstall the thermostat housing and tighten the bolts. Tighten the thermostat housing bolts snugly but not too tightly.
9. Refill the radiator with coolant. Add coolant to the radiator until the level reaches the "Full" mark.
10. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the coolant and allow the thermostat to open.
11. Check for leaks. Inspect the thermostat housing and radiator hoses for leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the clamps or bolts until the leak stops.
That's it! You have successfully replaced the thermostat in your 1994 Buick Century.
